Unfortunately, when the time comes to go back to their city homes, they don't know what to do with the animals. Decent people drop them off at the shelter with some donation, but there are heartless people who just close the door of their summer home, and leave the animals behind.
They don't care that the young dog or cat that loved them all summer will be scared, hungry, sad and feel abandoned, and often die lost in the woods or get hit by a car, because they don't know where to go. Luckily, we have shelters and sanctuaries in the area that give the abandoned animals home, and a lot of them are adopted by loving families.
I strongly believe that if someone don't feel compassion when looking into the eyes of an animal, they can't feel love for another human either.
I don't need to remind you that animal abusers are out there, instead, on this blog, I want to show you animals that are happy and cared for. When you adopt animals from a shelter and give them a home and love, they will give you all they got. They will be your loyal companion until they take their last breath.
With a group of author and poet friends, we put together two picture books with short stories and poems about animals. When you purchase the books, the royalty is donated to shelters and sanctuaries. This is our way of helping animals, giving you the enjoyment of reading our stories and poems.
You can find the eBook and print book links on the left sidebar, or click on the blog pages and read about the Read for Animals project.
